Respect for the Community and the Ecology
At Les Carrières Saint-Dominique Ltd., our environmental policy (in French only) reflects our commitment to be responsive to the needs and concerns of the community in the Montérégie region. By holding regular assessments of our processes and methods and by implementing specific objectives, we strive for the continuous improvement of our practices with a view to reducing our footprint. In addition to these commitments, we remain committed to offering our employees a safe and healthy work environment conducive to the fulfilment of our vision.
Transparency and Communication
In 2009, in a move to harmonize with local residential uses, the company proposed to the citizens of Saint-Dominique the setting up of a Dialogue-Citizens Committee. This committee, formed after a public information meeting held on April 28, 2009, includes a dozen citizens, a representative of the company, a representative of the municipality and an external consultant.
The main objective of this committee was the creation of a communication tool through which citizens could convey their expectations in terms of quality of life in relation to the company's activities. The company's concern for transparency has also allowed citizens to better understand the environmental challenges and issues that face the company.
Through this committee, citizens have been actively involved in developing solutions to achieve harmonization between the company's activities and residential uses. The implementation of these was carried out as part of the continuous improvement process.
The Dialogue-Citizens Committee is formed on an open and voluntary basis and is active during the annual period of operations, from April to October.
