An Example to Follow in the Montérégie Region
The OHS Committee, made up of members of management and employees from various divisions, meets once a month to discuss the follow-up to certain situations and make suggestions for prevention.
Employees serving on the OHS Committee are, in a way, the spokespersons for their co-workers. They are constantly listening to them and collecting ideas to improve safety throughout their division and, by extension, throughout the company.
We acquired a digital display that indicates the number of days without a work accident, to monitor the achievement of our goals. The purpose of the display is to motivate employees to work safely and to encourage them to submit ideas or recommendations on health and safety at work.
Training and information are essential communication tools when it comes to health and safety. Training is provided to employees at the beginning of each year. Similarly, we actively participate in CSST Seminars. Finally, we also use the CSST Youth Squad to train employees age 25 and under. Every two months, the company newsletter “Le Carriériste” also publishes a health and safety section giving tips and advice or recounting true stories to make employees aware of the dangers.
